Guitar lessons in Tulsa | Giving Lessons
This content was created for Curtis Music Academy
In the second edition of the credits Music Academy podcast. I wanted to talk about, um, giving voice guitar lessons in Tulsa at Curtis Music Academy. So giving voice guitar lessons in Tulsa at music credits, music academy, also guitar lessons in Tulsa. Um, I wanted to talk about what did, what kind of I do when I go about giving a voice guitar lessons in Tulsa slash guitar lessons in Tulsa. Um, so the first thing that I love to do is to study, study the topic. So whenever you are having to teach a topic, you definitely want to study first. You want to study systematically. And so you definitely want to first you know when to have steps to everything. So you want to have the step where you just do a broad study, a general study, and then you want to do a more focused study as well. And so you definitely get the opportunity to kind of begin to slowly get narrower.
Goals are narrower studying. And so you just do very focused study, um, as you go about the process. So say, you know, the voice guitar lessons in Tulsa or the voice topic. So your teaching voice. And so you want to do a broad study, a general study on the voice and all of the different perspectives on the voice. And then from there you can just begin to focus. And so you can focus on breathing, on vibration, on pitch, on listening, ear training. There’s these different aspects are avenues by which we use the voice or functions by which we use the voice that are going to be very, very, very helpful to your student. Secondly, we can begin to break down that knowledge that we’ve learned into that justifiable increments or measurements or pieces that when time to give those pieces, the student can begin to understand it well, interested in each topic, well each piece well and will and enable him to build, correct understanding and therefore correct knowledge and wisdom on how to use the knowledge of the voice.
And so, um, one of my favorite quotes is that knowledge is power. However, knowledge is power. Knowledge plus application is power because if you have knowledge but no application, then you cannot produce anything, you know. So it’s like, you know, a farmer goes out, he has seed, but he, the seed itself or the knowledge per se itself does not produce any fruit. You have to apply that knowledge to life. You have to apply that to situations. You have to apply that knowledge to the dirt or that seed to the dirt and then begin to water it, feed it and give it sunlight to make it grow. And so, uh, that’s kind of the same thing. We’re growing a student, we’re growing our knowledge and our understanding or it’s like we’re building a house together. You start with the foundation, which is understanding, um, you start and then from the correct understanding because you can have faulty understanding.
So you definitely want, that’s where, that’s why we have to do a broad scope or a general study on set topic, um, because we want to get all of the different perspectives so that we can really see the common threads and what’s really there. Does that make sense? Awesome. And so from that general study we’ll do if more focused study, which is when we begin to find those elements, those common threads. Okay. So we found this common threads and then we can begin to really understand those common threads by delving into those common threats. Are those, those pillars, those principles of the voice and what makes it what it is. So from there, that’s where you really grabbing the, um, the not the topsoil or what one perspective is, are many perspectives, but you’re beginning to get into the foundation of the voice. What really is there, what really is the thing that makes it work?
The needed essentials. So you want to definitely melt it down to its most basic elements through all those perspectives and start from there. And then that’s where we want, that’s those are the, those elements is what we want to begin to break down for the student in digestible pieces. So once you’ve got your elements down, um, or your facts, your truths, then of the voice, you want to then break it down. And so by breaking it down, you are, you can go through a three step process. You can go through, um, the, what they’re going to hear, what they’re going to see and what they’re going to be able to touch or feel or apply on their guitar. So they’re going to hear you talking. So the, when you present something, this is kind of the principles of presenting. It’s coming. You’re saying one thing and you’re under, you’re saying you’re thinking, thinking that you’re meaning one thing, but to them it has may mean something else.
So you want to make sure that your words are tailored to the hears perspective so they can understand. So communication principles and then what they’re seeing, they’re seeing the way you’re giving the information. So this is really just a topic on how to get you have a, because this is definitely things that applied most to giving a presentation. And that’s what we do. We give a presentation, it’s an interaction actually as well. So, um, they’re watching your body language, they’re watching if you’re smiling or frowning. So always make sure to smile. And then thirdly, applying that information with that knowledge. And so having them apply that on their guitar. And so there’s a process for that. There’s a steps to that and we call that the, um, it’s a method that we use where we demonstrate and then we allow them to go by what we’ve just done.
So what they’ve seen us do, they’re now going to implement themselves and try themselves. And then we want, the goal of that is to enable them to be able to do it themselves and even teach someone else. And so that’s the ultimate goal through teaching is to you teach someone in order so that they can teach someone else. And then the process can go through a state of, um, what we call, um, what is that called? Oh my gosh, I kind of just went blank guys. Trying to think, cause I hear it all the time. Exponential growth is what it’s called. Exponential growth is what we want to go through. Giving guitar lessons in Tulsa or voice guitar Lessons in Tulsa. And then f a s also thirdly, you know, finding their voice. So once you’ve broken it down for them, you say, just step one, you’ve studied step two, you’ve broken it down to them in increments that there’ll be under able to a five year old can understand. And then thirdly, um, giving that information to them in a presentation slash, application. So, and in that, you want to definitely find their voice. You want to hear where they’re at so that you can take them to where they want to go.
